Jack's second hand PC buying guide thread
Cheap laptops (thread 1 of 4): buy used, it's good for the environment. There are 2 good price points: - about £230 on something with an 8th gen intel processor - about £130 on something older to last as long as Windows 10 does (2025) You can tell what type of intel processor it is by looking at the number that comes after the 'i5' or 'i7' bit. i5-8xxx is 8th gen, i7-9xxx is 9th gen. Ex business laptops are cheap, easy to repair and to upgrade. Things like HP Probooks, Lenovo thinkpads, Dell Latitude. 8gb of ram is a minimum. You'll need 16 to be comfortable longer term. If you want to find out if you can upgrade the memory (ram) or storage on your computer, this website is good. Extra: Ebay is where it's at, but if that's not your thing, look at CEX. Their laptops have a 2 year guarantee.
